A biomaterial company from upstate New York has made a mixture for consumers to grow objects in the comfort of their own homes. Ecovative developed a raw material kit of their specially dehydrated Mushroom Material, containing a mixture of mycelium, also known as "mushroom glue", corn stalks and husks. After adding water and a pinch of flour, the mixture can molded into custom shapes or pressed into boards. Individuals have already used the GIY kit to create lamps, a wedding dress, and a stool.
